Went for a karaoke night with a group. If karaoke is your thing, you don't have to wait long to sing. The DJ also does a decent job of keeping things going. Not the nicest place in the world, but also not the worst. Probably closer to a Legion or VFC than something you'd see in a travel magazine. Drinks are relatively cheap. Asked for a cider and the only thing they had was Growers Strawberry Rhubarb, which was a little odd, but whatevs. If you're looking for something different, this place fits the bill.
f you ever walk into the Palace Hotel in Taber thinking it’s going to be a quiet night, that just means Wild Bill hasn’t opened his mouth yet. Because once he does, the whole place turns into a live comedy show—with a little classic rock sprinkled in. The moment he breaks out his Joe Cocker impression, everything changes. And when I say impression, I don’t mean he “sort of” sounds like Joe Cocker. No. Wild Bill commits. He does the voice, the moves, the whole dramatic-rockstar-being-electrocuted style that Joe Cocker was famous for. One night he got into it so hard, I swear the beer in my glass started vibrating. Someone at the bar whispered, “Is that Wild Bill… or did Joe Cocker resurrect himself just to perform in Taber?” Hard to say. All I know is Wild Bill had the whole room cheering like they were at Woodstock 1969, except with better parking and cheaper drinks. And of course, he’s got that classic Karolee charm—the kind of guy who can walk into the Palace Hotel and instantly make you forget whatever you were mad about. By the time he’s done, you’re laughing, clapping, and wondering why the heck he isn’t on tour doing tribute shows. Five stars for the Palace Hotel’s unofficial entertainer, comedian, and part-time Joe Cocker reincarnation— Wild Bill.
We are New to Taber ..... and if your looking for a place to call your watering hole this place is it ..... the owner was great .... remembered our drinks a week later when we came back! To me it was like a cheers .... "where everybody knows your name"
